A Special Discovery

An “extrordianry” discovery-a new planet- has been made by scientists using the European Southern Observatory’s telescope La Silla, Chile. This telescope is equipped with a special instrument that splits light to “find wobbles in different wavelengths”. These wobbles reveal other worlds beyond our planet. The new discovery, christened Gliese 581e is similar to our earth, about 1.9 times its size, but unable to support life its proximity to a star rendering it too hot. The same scientists talk of their discovery two years ago and named Gliese 581d positioned in a “habitable zone”- a region around a sun-like star with possibly “large and deep ocean”.  Exciting, to say the least.
